It looks as though Bernie Ward will be changing his “Not Guilty” plea to something else tomorrow. As I asked in my January 28, 2008 post, “Do I smell a Plea?” When the evidence mounts up against you, you need to take a realistic look and accept the consequences for your actions.

Do you remember when I posted about Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his indictment? Well it seems that the Treasurer of Detroit is upset about the “hush money” settlement that Mayor Jigalo orchestrated and the City of Detroit is now suing its mayor and his former mistress aide for $27 MILLION DOLLARS. As always Courthouse News Service provides the details. I found a site today called King Kwame and it has a decent time line. A better time line will be found in my previous posting.

Detroit Jigalo Mayor Kwame Malik Kilpatrick is in a bunch of hot water. Indicted for perjury. Imagine that, another politician facing criminal charges and one who cheats on his wife. No not tryst as in Elliot Spitzer, but Twist in his case. Supervisor Former Supervisor Ed Jew is being prosecuted by the U.S. for corruption, bribes, etc. This is the guy who was “allegedly” caught on wiretap to have extorted money from some local businesses in his district. Then he also is alleged to have not even resided in his District, but actually in another county altogether. The City of San Francisco made it’s case to the California Attorney General who in turn gave SF permission to seek to remove Jew from office. Jew ultimately settled his civil and criminal cases with the City and County of San Francisco. What looms ahead is the actual underlying Federal Case that triggered the whole fiasco.

Here’s a clue: Convicted November 5, 2007 on 13 counts. Still guessing, I know it really isn’t fair since most of Mark Geragos’ clients all end up convicted, but I digress. Brent Roger Wilkes has received his new identification number since he was sentenced to 12 years in Federal Prison. According to the Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons, Inmate 00858-298 is currently housed at The Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in San Diego. This is despite his attorney’s motion for Bail pending Appeal, coupled with the Department of Justice’s opposition to bail motion.
